

Excavations in the high altitude zone of the Southern French Alps started in 1998. This research has radically altered our understanding of human activity in the zones above 2000m. A combination of archaeological survey and excavation with a range of palaeoenvironmental approaches has allowed us to develop our understanding of human/environment relationships from the Mesolithic through to the post-mediaeval period.
